Relationships Raise Money – The 4 Must Know Questions to Get Sponsored Faster
Why should you ask questions of your sponsor? Simple, Relationships Raise Money! (Oh, and because most people looking to get sponsored don’t ask questions.)
It’s true! Most sponsorship seekers have NO IDEA what really happens in the sponsorship process when they ask for a sponsor.
I’ve seen people think that because they created a proposal and filled out an online form that they’d automatically get sponsored… or that they simply “ask” for the money like an ATM machine– the money would then come shooting right into their hands. Does this EVER work? Sometimes– but is it effective and consistent, NO!
In order to consistently get sponsored, I invite you to start thinking bigger! Start thinking like a major corporation or international brand. Need help? I've got your back.
Being that Relationships Raise Money, I want to share 4 questions to think about when getting sponsors.
While brands will sponsor you for social media exposure, press, and brand recognition… there’s so much more!
Here are 4 of the must-know questions to ask when getting sponsors
1. ASK YOURSELF OR TEAM: How can our sponsorship property get our sponsors the best ROI possible and help them maximize this opportunity?
When asking this question, here are a couple tips for you:
– Engage your potential or current sponsors in a conversation to create ways to get “out of the box” that they or other sponsors might have put them in.
– Use case studies from previous sponsorships to share the results you’ve gotten for sponsors, and how you could craft something unique for them too.
2. ASK YOUR SPONSOR: Is there a specific brand or segment of your company that you’d like us to feature as part of this sponsorship OR is there something you’re really excited about right now that you’d like more people to know about?
A few ideas of what we’ve seen featured:
– Environmentally friendly and Green Initiative
– Sponsorships and donations to key groups within their target market
– Volunteer work done by employees or executives
3. ASK YOUR SPONSOR: How is your current publicity and PR? Is there anything you want the public to know about now or the near future?
Pro tip: This is an important question because sometimes there’s quite a bit of “red tape” within big organizations, and this allows a brand to get something featured in a shorter and more prominent time frame.
4. ASK YOUR SPONSOR: How’s your team doing? Are you looking to excite and engage your team even more?
If they say, “yes”… find ways to think “out of the box” and create opportunities for their teams to volunteer OR have internal contests for their team!
While these 4 questions are a great starting point to get sponsored, remember that relationships raise money and one of the best ways to build relationships is to have a conversation with someone.
