EPISODE TRANSCRIPT
00:00:01 Roberto Candelaria: Well, hey, y'all, welcome back to the show. And guess what? We are moving. Yes, we are moving. Things are in boxes. They're packed up. The living room is just filled with crates and the rest of the house is pretty empty. And there's tape guns and bubble wrap and Everything Everywhere.
00:00:21 Roberto Candelaria: And so today, we're going to be talking about moving and why we're moving and what keeps people from moving in their life and in their business. So y'all, let's pull it up, pull up a seat and have a conversation today.
00:00:01 Roberto Candelaria: All right. Yeah. So yes, it is true. We are moving. And the question that people have been asking us, especially on Warren's Facebook page because he asked, like, hey, where do you all think we're moving? And people like, where you all going? They've guessed. Austin. They've guessed Denver, they've guessed, you know, out of the country, to Portugal or Mexico.
00:00:20 Roberto Candelaria: So and the answer ready or not, here it is. Is we don't know. Yes, we absolutely do not know where we are moving to and more on that here in just a second. But as we get into that right I wanted to ask you like have you ever found yourself?
00:00:40 Roberto Candelaria: You know whether it be.
00:00:42 Roberto Candelaria: Your life, whether it be a living situation, a relationship, or maybe even something in your business. Hey, maybe even some of your clients and you're just like, Oh my God, this is a good thing. I just need to stay put or I just need to stay in this just because, you know it or.
00:01:01 Roberto Candelaria: Maybe it's just comfortable, and so even though you may know, hey, more as possible, this isn't serving me anymore. It's uncomfortable, but you stay.
00:01:14 Roberto Candelaria: Because knowing something and being having a perceived level of comfort is better than the complete unknown or making a shift. And so that's kind of what we're talking about today as I talk about this move. And so like, as we look about.
00:01:31 Roberto Candelaria: Why we're moving, right? Our lease was up.
00:01:35 Roberto Candelaria: And Warren and I were talking. I don't know if some of you all may know. Earlier this year, my mom had open heart surgery, and that just brought up a lot of conversations about, you know, life and what we want. And my mom sharing with us things that she had wanted to experience and things she'd wanted to do that maybe she hadn't let herself do previously as.
00:01:56 Roberto Candelaria: You know, for whatever reason, right? And so as we started having these conversations and really thinking about it and you know, Warren and I, like I said, our lease was coming up and we were like well.
00:02:09 Roberto Candelaria: We kind of like it here. It's a great place. We love these super high ceilings like we love the neighborhood we're in. Like, should we stay? And that's kind of where we started, right? Like is do we stay and then once we were like, yeah, maybe we were just like, OK. But like, if we were to go somewhere.
00:02:27 Roberto Candelaria: Else, what would we want?
00:02:29 Roberto Candelaria: And we really found ourselves being like, wow.
00:02:32 Roberto Candelaria: It'd be fun to maybe get a house versus be and like luxury buildings like maybe get a house and it'd be fun to have a yard. And so we went and looked at some houses and all over the place y'all here in the Houston area.
00:02:47 Roberto Candelaria: We're like, we don't like new construction because they really don't have trees or have that community or that neighborhood feel. And then we went out to Dripping Springs, kind of far out in Dripping Springs and we saw places on an acre and we were like, Oh my gosh.
00:03:03 Roberto Candelaria: So great to have an acre and to have these big lush trees, but Oh my gosh, too far from the airport. So we know we definitely want more of an established neighborhood. We want something with trees, but.
00:03:14 Roberto Candelaria: Like the amenities that come with living in luxury buildings, and I say this to say right, it's like we really started to explore like, OK.
00:03:25 Roberto Candelaria: We love it here and.
00:03:28 Roberto Candelaria: We want more and we hadn't even really fully described what that more was yet. Right. And so we made the decision to put in our notice. We are everything's packed up, it's going to storage and we're taking a few months to explore where we might live next.
00:03:49 Roberto Candelaria: We might end up in California, we might end up in, you know, Spain. We might end up in Mexico. We might end up in Florida or we might end up right back in Austin, or we might not.
00:04:01 Roberto Candelaria: And you know, there's a lot that we love about Austin. We love the food, we love the events, we love the people here. I mean, we love this. Austin's a beautiful city to.
00:04:11 Roberto Candelaria: Live in y'all.
00:04:12 Roberto Candelaria: We love the area we live in. We love being super close to our family, which is in San Antonio, and we also love that, like so many events are here, so many conferences are here. So many of our friends.
00:04:25 Roberto Candelaria: That are also business owners hold retreats here. Hold masterminds here. People are always coming through here. And yet.
00:04:33 Roberto Candelaria: We every now and then find ourselves asking the question, you know, especially like we're in the car when we're on road trips, we'll be like, you know, what have we moved to here or what have we lived in this place or wouldn't it be fun to spend a few months living in? And we just talk about this? What if what if?
00:04:54 Roberto Candelaria: What?
00:04:56 Roberto Candelaria: And so we decided to play into that. What if? And so for the next few months, things will be in storage and we're going to spend some time in different places. And while we're doing this with our life, right.
00:05:09 Roberto Candelaria: This year, a couple of years ago, we did that with the business which like you know is this for me personally.
00:05:17 Roberto Candelaria: Are this live sponsorship events still serving us? Are they still the best way to help our clients? Do they still bring us joy to be able to do it and some?
00:05:27 Roberto Candelaria: Of you may be.
00:05:29 Roberto Candelaria: In your life, in your business, right? Also asking yourself.
00:05:34 Roberto Candelaria: What if? Does this still help me? And so I think that it's important for us to be able to give ourselves the opportunity to even explore new options versus.
00:05:47 Roberto Candelaria: Just staying in what's comfortable or staying in what's unfulfilling, especially if you're someone that knows you want more. And so those two questions, again, right, are one, is this serving me? And you can say yes, you can say no, you can make a list of, hey, these are all the ways that it is serving me.
00:06:07 Roberto Candelaria: And the flip side, these are all the ways that it's not.
00:06:12 Roberto Candelaria: But then there's another question right, which is what else is possible, and this applies not only to our business, not only to our offers, not only to the way that we show up in our content, whether it be a free content or your emails or your blogs or podcasts, but we it applies to the other.
00:06:33 Roberto Candelaria: Areas of our life, including where we live and where we eat you may go to the same coffee shop all the time and just be like.
00:06:41 Roberto Candelaria: There is that new coffee shop, but I know what this one is right and so I want you to think about your offers, your products, the value that you create, the way that you serve your clients, your one-on-one coaching, your group offers, your VIP days, your pop-up workshops.
00:07:01 Roberto Candelaria: How are they serving you?
00:07:05 Roberto Candelaria: And what else is possible? You know, Walt Disney, you know I love Disney, but you know, Walt Disney once said that Disneyland will never be completed and that it will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world. And I really feel that way about our lives. I feel that way about our business that we will.
00:07:25 Roberto Candelaria: Always be taking the time to.
00:07:28 Roberto Candelaria: Explore to create and that as we explore as we create, sometimes we get to find something new, you know earlier.
00:07:35 Roberto Candelaria: Today.
00:07:36 Roberto Candelaria: The day that I'm recording this and I was talking to Molly, Claire, Molly, Claire will be on one of our upcoming summits. We're running the profitable coach summit October 16.
00:07:48 Roberto Candelaria: To 18/20/24, Molly will be on that. We were having a conversation.
00:07:52 Roberto Candelaria: Say about, you know, people sometimes don't even allow themselves to explore being outside of one-on-one coaching because of like, one on one's the way one on one's the way one on one's the way. And you know what one.
00:08:04 Roberto Candelaria: On one is a.
00:08:06 Roberto Candelaria: Way and that's what I love about business is that we get to explore, we get to create.
00:08:12 Roberto Candelaria: Very much as we evolve as humans, our lives evolve and the world evolves around us. We also let to have our businesses.
00:08:21 Roberto Candelaria: Evolve.
00:08:23 Roberto Candelaria: And so if you would have asked me a few years ago if I thought that we would have ever done this, I would have told you no. Because like I said, for years we've been like, well, what have we lived here or what if.
00:08:35 Roberto Candelaria: We did that.
00:08:36 Roberto Candelaria: But finally, we're in a place where we're just like, OK, let's do this and we made.
00:08:44 Roberto Candelaria: This decision.
00:08:46 Roberto Candelaria: Together. And so there's a few things that allowed us to be able to do that, and I want to share them with you. And just so you can explore, right, you can see these are some of the things that we considered. So one of the things you know, just in in life that actually helped us with that is, you know, it's me and Warren.
00:09:06 Roberto Candelaria: So we do not have kids at home. Well, we don't have kids, but we don't have kids at home and we have two lovely German shepherds, which.
00:09:15 Roberto Candelaria: My mom, my sister, are graciously taking care of Walt and Lilly. Yes, like Walt and Lilly and Disney off and on during the next few months while we travel, the dogs will go with us. Some places, some places they're going to stay with my mom and with my sister. And so we really have the support system in terms of family.
00:09:35 Roberto Candelaria: To be able to do this.
00:09:37 Roberto Candelaria: Also in the business, we have the support of an amazing team, right? So we have Sharee who helps with our summits. We have my assistant and then the creatives team that helps with other pieces of things. So we have support family, we have support from our team, but also.
00:09:57 Roberto Candelaria: Our business model, you know, when I first started in coaching and consulting.
00:10:02 Roberto Candelaria: I did a.
00:10:02 Roberto Candelaria: Lot of one-on-one coaching so much. Oh my.
00:10:06 Roberto Candelaria: And it just felt like it was the hamster wheel of got to get people on a console, close them into one-on-one. Oh my gosh, we're full. Oh, no. Somebody's leaving. Got to get back on the hamster wheel of consults. And it was kind of never ending there in terms of the coaching and consulting work. Right. And it was a lot more of the consulting work.
00:10:26 Roberto Candelaria: But we eventually diversified our revenue streams and so one of the things that's contributing to us being able to make this decision is a business model that includes different revenue streams. We have affiliate revenue, which is people promoting our offers. So affiliates to promote the things that we sell.
00:10:47 Roberto Candelaria: As well as affiliate revenue from the different items courses softwares that we promote, we have online courses and pop-up workshops and in fact September 5th, we're doing a workshop on pop-up workshops. We have digital offers. We have a mastermind and while we still.
00:11:04 Roberto Candelaria: Have some one-on-one work. Most of the revenue comes from other sources that are not one-on-one. In other words, we are able to make more in the business by leveraging our time. And so we don't touch as many of the things thankfully to digital products.
00:11:24 Roberto Candelaria: And so that also means that we have a business model that doesn't require us to be in one place.
00:11:31 Roberto Candelaria: With our membership Profitable Community Academy, of course we can log into social media anywhere. We can record a video or lead a coaching call, lead a group session basically anywhere that we have the Internet. So we're pretty much all virtual and we don't have that much one-on-one.
00:11:51 Roberto Candelaria: And so again, the type of offers products that we have also contribute to us making this decision, but ultimately right. The thing that really allowed us to be able to do this is our trust in US.
00:12:06 Roberto Candelaria: And yes, I said our trust in US self Trust is a beautiful thing.
00:12:10 Roberto Candelaria: But there was a few things here. It was to know that we could explore what we want next in terms of where we want to live. Even if we end up back in Austin to know that we can explore it while still serving our clients to know that we could explore what we want next in our personal lives, in terms of where we live.
00:12:31 Roberto Candelaria: And also still be open to new offers to know that we can do this and also find ways to have deeper connection with people with community and knowing right, trusting ourselves to know.
00:12:48 Roberto Candelaria: With it.
00:12:49 Roberto Candelaria: Whether we are in California or Mexico or Europe, wherever we are, that we'll know.
00:12:56 Roberto Candelaria: OK, this is the next stop. This is where we want to be home for a little bit, AKA where we're going to move, even if that means that we end up back in Austin. But we're giving ourselves the opportunity for a few months to explore and see what truly is.
00:13:17 Roberto Candelaria: Like possible for where we want to live where we want to create a business and actually explore more than just what we've known for so long and so.
00:13:28 Roberto Candelaria: As I close out today, I want to invite you to ask a couple of questions to yourself and if you want to share them with me, awesome, connect with me on Instagram. I'd love to hear from you. Send me a voice message. Send.
00:13:40 Roberto Candelaria: Me your answers but.
00:13:42 Roberto Candelaria: These are the questions I want to invite you to ask yourself.
00:13:46 Roberto Candelaria: What keeps you from exploring new opportunities in your life or business?
00:13:53 Roberto Candelaria: And how could you allowing yourself to step out of your comfort zone lead to more? Whether that's something more in your personal life or something more in your business? How could you being willing to get out of your comfort zone, help you experience more?
00:14:09 Roberto Candelaria: And then lastly.
00:14:11 Roberto Candelaria: What new experiences could you create or share that maybe you didn't even know were possible or?
00:14:19 Roberto Candelaria: That you've simply never let yourself try. Those are questions that I've asked myself. Questions I've answered, and over the next few months I'll pop in with podcast episodes, letting you know where we're at, what we're doing, what we're experiencing, and continue to help you build a business that you love.
00:14:39 Roberto Candelaria: By diversifying your revenue as a coach, but also knowing that relationships truly do.
00:14:46 Roberto Candelaria: Make money in your personal life, in your business life and I look forward to continuing this journey with you. So have a good day and again, if you answer these questions, shoot me a message. e-mail, Instagram. I would love to hear from you.
